Our Founder

Dr. Dilip Mahalanabis, our esteemed founder, was a globally renowned pediatrician and public health visionary whose ground breaking work in Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORT) revolutionized the management of diarrhoeal diseases, saving millions of lives worldwide. A pioneer in affordable, accessible healthcare, his efforts during the 1971 Bangladesh war cemented ORT’s efficacy in reducing mortality rates. He dedicated his career to advancing public health through impactful research, founding the Society for Applied Studies to improve health outcomes for marginalized populations. Honored with prestigious awards Padma Vibushan, the second highest civilian award in India, the Prince Mahidol Award and the Pollin Prize, Dr. Mahalanabis’ legacy continues to inspire innovation in global health.

Our Mentor

Dr. MK Bhan was an extraordinary mentor whose vision and unwavering belief shaped our organization from its inception. He guided us with wisdom and compassion, challenging us to dream bigger while staying committed to creating meaningful societal impact. His mentorship went beyond advice – he invested personally in our growth, inspiring us to break barriers and achieve milestones with purpose. Every success we have achieved bears his imprint, and his legacy lives on in the passion and drive he instilled in us. Dr. Bhan’s spirit continues to guide us as we strive to honor his vision and commitment to innovation.

Dr. Bhan is a recipient of several prestigious awards (https://www.mkbhan.in/). This include the Padma Bhushan, India’s second highest civil honor, for his contributions to governance and civil service and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, the highest Scientific Award in Indian Sciences.
